Children's Hair

Children’s hair demands special hair care, because such hair is very fine, soft and fluffy. Up to the age of 7-10 years children have such hair.
Children’s hair differs from adult’s hair in texture, density and color and can change with an age. When you wash such hair, the first thing you should do is to detangle it with a wide tooth comb moving from the ends boy_hairto the roots. Wash children’s hair with a mild shampoo, or diluted one in some water to make it less strong. Rub the shampoo between the palms and apply it to your hair. Wash the hair in the direction moving from the roots to the ends. If your child is older and his or her hair is quite long, you may apply a conditioner to the hair itself, the scalp skin can not be conditioned. If your child has curly hair, you should detangle it with the shower water and a wide tooth plastic comb, then condition it. You should not put a conditioner on the scalp skin, only on the hair.

During the process of detangling you should not pull delicate children’s hair. Detangle hair with a very wide tooth comb, not a brush. To make the process easier detangling sprays can be successfully used. Don’t brush wet children’s hair, wait till it becomes dry. To solve the problem of tangles within children with curly hair you should begin this process in the shower, continue detangling applying a conditioner to wet hair. Then you should form the curls. Don’t detangle and brush dry curly hair.  You should separate the strands making locks. The procedure of detangling should be started from the ends to the roots. If you start detangling from the roots to the ends, the process will be quite painful because of hair being pulled. To moisten hair and prevent hair from becoming frizzy you may use a leave-in conditioner on your hair.
Damp hair should be separated into strands to quicken the drying time. Then you may have gentle braiding or ponytailing on children’s hair to prevent painful detangling. These hairstyles are good before going to bed. You should blot children’s hair dry, for the purpose microfiber towels, which have an ability to absorb wetness quickly, are required. Children’s hair should not be rubbed. Adults’ hair care is almost the same as children’s hair care.

girl_hairSometimes problems with children’s hair wash arise. Some children are afraid of dunking their head into the water, that’s why parents have problems how to teach their children to wash their hair themselves. Children can not be forced to duck their heads into the water. Children’s hair can be washed under a shower or with a parent’s palm too. Never force a child’s head under the water entirely. After hair wash you are recommended to wipe children’s eyes with a hand towel handy. Children must feel the parent’s support. Children like to be washed in a bathtub.

Babies’ and elder children’s scalp skin also produces sebum, that’s why it should be washed in 1-5 days. Hair wash depends on sebum production and volume of hair. Teenagers’ hair should be washed daily through the active work of hormones. Most adult people can wash in a day or some days, when there is a necessity to wash off an extra sebum. Some amount of sebum is required for the maintenance of the scalp skin’s health and the protection of hair. If you wash your hair every day, the sebum washes off causing the skin to produce sebum in a bigger amount. Frequent hair wash deprives hair of its natural moisture. Babies and elder children should not have their head washed daily, because it leads to dry, itchy irritated scalp skin. The excessive amount of sebum may be an answer to an infection of the hair follicles. Babies and elderly should wash their hair with a mild shampoo. In the case of dandruff you should apply to a doctor, because it may be connected with dermatitis. The changes in hair texture and the levels of hormones produced are observed every seven years.
