The baldness begins as usual at the temples and the hairline recedes. Often, the crown of the head becomes thin or bald also. Some men only get balding in one or the other area. Men taking such steroids as testosterone for the building their bodies suffer from the problem. About 66 percent of men suffer from male-pattern baldness. Children and adults sometimes pull their hair, brows, or lashes and damage them. They do it as a response to unpleasant stresses and in this case they should apply to a doctor.
Female-pattern baldness is caused by a sex hormone. While having this kind of baldness women lose hair over the entire scalp, the hair becomes thin and the frontal hairline does not recede. A loss of hair on the crown (back top of the head) can also occur and is caused by a decrease in estrogen, a female hormone. Female-pattern baldness appears at the age of 30 and is clearly observed at the age of 40. Female-pattern baldness is temporary and is easier treated than male pattern baldness. People suffering from baldness should apply to a doctor who helps them to find out the reason of it. He will ask if they are on a diet, if any remedies are taken, how they take care of the hair and if they have recently recovered from decease. The doctor may ask women about menstrual cycle, menopause and about their pregnancy. Sometimes blood tests or a biopsy which is the examination of cells under a microscope may be held to find out why the baldness appears.
