2) One should dry clean any clothing that cannot be washed in a machine.
3) It is recommended to use bed linens, clothing, and stuffed animals and plush toys that can't be washed dry-cleaned. Put them in airtight bags for 2 weeks.
4) It is necessary to vacuum carpets and any upholstered furniture (in your home or car).
5) It is necessary to soak hair-care combs, barrettes, hair ties or bands, headbands, and brushes in rubbing alcohol or medicated shampoo during1 hour. Another way of disinfection is to wash them in hot water or just do not use them anymore.
6) One should remember that head lice are contagious, that’s why other infested members of the family should be treated to avoid repeated infection.
There are some tips necessary to know for people who are eager to get rid of lice: 1) One should not apply a hair dryer on your child's hair after using treatments, because some medications contain flammable ingredients. 2) One should not apply a cream rinse or shampoo/conditioner combination before using lice medication. 3) As soon as you apply a medicated treatment, don't wash your child's hair for 1 to 2 days afterwards. 4) Sprays should not be applied because they may make harm. 5) The same medication should not be applied more than three times on one person. In the case of its ineffectiveness one may use another medication. 6) More than one head lice medication should not be applied at a time.
People who have head lice should not be considered as unclean or those who have poor hygiene. There are some recommendations that should be told to your children how to avoid lice infection: 1) Your children should avoid head-to-head contact at school (in gym, on the playground, or during sports) and while playing at home with other children.
2) Your children should not give their combs, brushes, hats, scarves, bandanas, ribbons, barrettes, hair ties or bands, towels, helmets, or other personal care items with other children, they should know that their things are private.
3) Your children should not lie on bedding, pillows, and carpets of the persons who have been infected with lice.
4) If anyone of your family was in a close contact with an infected person, his head should be examined well and treated if such necessity arises.
The treatment may be ineffective if your child is in contact with someone with lice or there are still some nits in the hair that are not examined. If the lice do not dissappear within 2 weeks, apply to a doctor. Lice can be resistant to some medications. Assure your child that he is not guilty that he has lice and he is not dirty. It is not necessary to shave the head of the child, because it is traumatic. Head lice are not transmitted from pets.
Sometimes lice treatment products do not work, because they do not kill the the nits (eggs). They do not remove nits completely, the lice and nit infestation will go on, the child goes on scratching his head and bacterial infection can appear. One of the best products used in the treatment against lice and their eggs is Licenex™. It is nontoxic, gentle on your child's scalp, hypoallergenic, pH balanced and contains no chemicals. It enters to the roots of the infected hair where lice inhabit. It aslo dissolves the glue that holds lice onto the hair. It cleans the scalp and prevents re-infestation. It is effective and simple in use. You should only use the shampoo, rub it in and rinse it out. It starts immediately to dissolve the proteins in the nit (egg) glue and the nits begin to detach from the hair shaft. It is a safe product.
